The Orange look to end their three-game losing streak against the unbeaten Cardinal.
The Syracuse Orange have hit the skids in the midst of a very difficult portion of their season.
‘Cuse has lost three games in a row as part of a punishing five-game stretch in which they play a team currently ranked in the top eight of this week’s Division I Media Poll every game.
Today, they entertain the 6-0, No. 6 ranked Stanford Cardinal in the JMA Dome. Opening draw is set for 5 PM on the ACC Network.

- All-time series: 6th meeting; Syracuse leads, 4-1
- Last meeting: Syracuse W, 12-9, on February 11, 2022
- Syracuse this season: 3-3 overall, 0-2 ACC
- Stanford this season: 6-0 overall, 2-0 ACC
Stanford is off to an unbeaten start in their first season in the ACC, with some notable wins dotting their resume.
They opened up the season with a 12-goal win over a ranked USC, and then added a win over a ranked-at-the-time Colorado team. They’ve won their first two ACC games, the first of which was an impressive road victory against Virginia by six goals.
Scouting Stanford
The Cardinal have put up some impressive numbers to start the season. They’re currently seventh in the country in scoring offense (16.0 goals per game) and 15th in the country in scoring defense (8.50 goals against per game), almost doubling up their opponents on average on the score board.
Stanford’s opponents have the exact same number of turnovers as total shots (112) this season, and they’re averaging 11.67 caused turnovers per game while only giving up 14.5 shots on goal per game.
In short, they’re stingy, and that spells trouble for a Syracuse offense that’s scored eight goals in each of their three straight losses.
On the other end, the Cardinal are powered by a well-balanced offense led by sophomore attacker Aliya Polisky (23G, 3A), who leads the team in goals and points. She’s joined at attack by fellow sophomores Ava Arceri (16G, 7A) and Elise Murphy (7G, 16A), who are second on the team in goals and lead the team in assists, respectively.
Jordyn Case (13G, 5A) and Martha Oakey (3G, 12A) round out the double-digit scorers for an offense averaging 16 goals per game that should provide a stiff test for a ‘Cuse defense that’s been playing well in woman-to-woman ever since the second quarter of the North Carolina game.
In goal, starter Lucy Pearson has solid numbers with a 8.75 goals-against average and a .405 save percentage.
