Two teams collide in Charlotte
At the request of Syracuse Orange fans, we’re going to give you our ACC Football Power Rankings. Let’s get to this week’s list as we head into Championship Week
1) SMU Mustangs (11-1, 8-0)- took advantage of a lighter ACC schedule to put themselves in a position to be the first ACC rep in the CFP
2) Miami Hurricanes (10-2, 6-2)- Mario Cristobal coaches Miami like he has Iowa’s offense
3) Clemson Tigers (9-3, 7-1)- Clemson really blew a chance to help the ACC, yet thanks to Syracuse find themselves in a better position to make the CFP. Power of prayer is real folks.
4) Syracuse Orange (9-3, 5-3) – if you didn’t enjoy Saturday’s game, you must be related to Mario Cristobal
5) Duke Blue Devils (9-3, 5-3)- survived the final week and finished with a better record than Mike Elko and Texas A&M.
6) Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (7-5, 5-3)- not sure why GT decided to become a drop-back passing team in overtime. Another team that could have killed the playoff hopes of their SEC rival
7) Louisville Cardinals (8-4, 5-3)- well Kentucky had no CFP shots but thanks for putting a big hole in Ole Miss’ chances.
8) Boston College Eagles (7-5, 4-4)- bowl eligibility for BoB in year one. Death, taxes and BC football winning 6-7 games.
9) Pittsburgh Panthers (7-5, 3-5)-Pitt just assumed the Syracuse November swoon and we hope they keep it for a while.
10) Virginia Tech Hokies (6-6, 4-4) – surely people in Blacksburg don’t get upset seeing what Shane Beamer’s doing
11) North Carolina Tar Heels (6-6, 3-5) – Roy Williams confirmed that he “couldn’t give a shit” about who UNC hires as their next HC
12) California Golden Bears (6-6, 2-6)- Still a solid first season in the ACC for Cal, but man they could have easily been 8-4.
13) NC State Wolfpack (6-6, 3-5)- bowl eligible but Dave Doeren wasn’t lighting up victory cigars this week
14) Virginia Cavaliers (5-7, 3-5) – might not be the best year for Tonys in Charlottesville
15) Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-8, 2-6)- Dave Clawson’s agent has likely been burning up the phone lines.
16) Stanford Cardinal (3-9, 2-6) – Godspeed Andrew Luck
17) Florida State Seminoles (2-9, 1-7) – can the ACC sue to get revenue back from Florida State after this disaster?
