ACC’s dreams of more than one CFP team hits a speed bump in Atlanta
At the request of Syracuse Orange fans, we’re going to give you our ACC Football Power Rankings. Let’s get to this week’s list….
1) SMU Mustangs (8-1, 5-0)- suddenly SMU rises to the top of the rankings and the rest of the league wonders what happens when they start earning tv revenue?
2) Miami Hurricanes (9-1, 5-1)- The Canes have been playing with fire and it caught up to them in Atlanta.
3) Clemson Tigers (7-2, 6-1)- don’t look now but Dabo might be back in Charlotte after all. Will the anti-portal approach pay off?
4) Louisville Cardinals (6-3, 4-2)- still lurking and rooting for Coastal Chaos
5) Pittsburgh Panthers (7-2, 3-2)-
6) Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (6-4, 4-3)- every ACC HC thanks Mario Cristobal for being a truly awful gameday coach
7) Duke Blue Devils (7-3, 3-3)- gave Miami a good scare but they can get revenge in basketball
8) California Golden Bears (5-4, 1-4)- we said we needed Cal to win to get away from the bottom and they finally came through
9) Syracuse Orange (6-3, 3-3) – right on time for them to welcome the Orange to Berkeley.
10) Boston College Eagles (5-4, 2-3)- the Eagles run off their starting QB needing one more win for bowl eligibility. A bold strategy from Bill O’Brien
11) Virginia Cavaliers (5-4, 3-3) – speaking of needing one more win, Virginia shocked everyone winning at Pitt and now they could sneak out that 6th win.
12) Virginia Tech Hokies (5-5, 3-3) – and you know the Cavaliers would love to get win #6 at the expense of the Hokies
13) North Carolina Tar Heels (5-4, 2-3)- what UNC will we get after their bye week
14) NC State Wolfpack (5-5, 2-4)- just when it looked like NC State was closing strong, they stumbled at home against Duke….or as Raleigh locals call it- “getting ready for basketball season”
15) Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-5, 2-3)- with road games at UNC and Miami the next two weeks, Wake might have let their bowl hopes slip away
16) Stanford Cardinal (2-7, 1-5) – we get our first ever ACC meeting between the Cardinals and Cardinal
17) Florida State Seminoles (1-9, 1-7) -yes firing three coaches you owe buyout money to is going to help the program compete for national titles
