What’s going on in Chapel Hill?
After two more losses, where do we put the Syracuse Orange this week? Let’s not delay and get to this week’s rankings:
1: Duke Blue Devils (17-2, 9-0)
Faced adversity at Wake and came up with the win. Looks like Maliq Brown will be back on the court before they visit Syracuse.
2. Louisville Cardinals (15-5, 8-1)
Between them and Clemson, some SEC HC is going to be whining about having to face them in the 2nd round in March.
3. Clemson Tigers (17-4, 9-1)
Just play like a mature basketball team, which makes sense when the average age on their roster is older than the OKC Thunder.
4. Wake Forest Demon Deacons (15-5, 7-2)
Missed a huuuuuuuugeeee opportunity by failing to close out against Duke, but sometimes close losses are just as valuable in the eyes of the committee.
5. SMU Mustangs (15-5, 6-3)
Remember when Syracuse had players who could do this…

6. Stanford Cardinal (14-6, 6-3)
Major Director’s Cup implications from Stanford’s win in Chapel Hill. If they keep UNC MBB out of the Tournament, that could swing the Cup to the Cardinal.
7. UNC Tar Heels (13-8, 6-3)
Survived in overtime over Boston College and maybe they shouldn’t have spent so much on another aging football coach
8. Pitt Panthers (13-6, 4-4)
Might have the best backcourt in the league and if Pitt’s baseball team needs a closer, Jaland Lowe should be considered
9. Florida State Seminoles (13-7, 4-5)
Rough week for the Noles
10. California Golden Bears (11-9, 4-5)
Two wins gets Cal moving up. Let’s hope it didn’t lead to dancing from Mark Madsen.
11. Syracuse Orange (9-11, 3-6)
Better on offense this week, but turnovers are the Achilles leg of this team. Can they channel the football team’s West Coast success?
12. NC State Wolfpack (9-10, 2-6)
Saw a post suggesting Kevin Keatts has been underwhelming at NC State…bold take in the year following a Final Four trip.
13. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (9-10, 3-5)
They are going to knock someone off because of their ability to make shots. It’s just a question of who and when.
14. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (9-11, 3-6)
The round-robin games to make it to Charlotte will be interesting. Tech faces ND and with Louisville looming, that’s a big one for Damon’s squad
15. Virginia Tech Hokies (8-12, 3-6)
Word out of Blacksburg is they weren’t ready for the NIL explosion.
16. Virginia Cavaliers (9-11, 2-7)
Could we see their game at Syracuse ending up an ACC Tournament eliminator?
17. Boston College Eagles (9-11, 1-8)
Curse of Al Skinner continues.
18. Miami Hurricanes (4-16, 0-9)
Took Cal to overtime but hey Carson Beck’s reconstructed elbow should be ready to go by May

What did we get wrong this week?
