Former South Carolina wide receiver Tyshawn Russell has transferred to Syracuse, according to On3. Russell played in 10 games in 2023 as a freshman but didn’t record any snaps as a sophomore in 2024.
The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, native was a three-star recruit out of Bishop McDevitt High School, per 247Sports. He ranked as the No. 26 recruit in Pennsylvania in the 2023 class, committing to South Carolina over offers from Virginia Tech and Maine.
In his freshman season with the Gamecocks, Russell played 113 snaps over 10 games, notching five receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown. As a sophomore, Russell fell out of the rotation as South Carolina elevated to a 9-3 record.
Russell becomes the second wide receiver to transfer to Syracuse in the 2025 cycle, joining former Rutgers wide receiver Chris Long Jr. The Orange look to replenish a wide receiver core that will lose Jackson Meeks but return Trebor Peña and Darrell Gill Jr.
