Can Jeanty and the Broncos run past the Nittany Lions into the semis? And can we profit off it?
Guess who’s back, back again, Fearless Leader’s gambling picks are back, tell a friend. It was a chalk weekend for the first round of the college football playoffs, but when games go according to script there’s money to be made, and make money we did. Every first round game was a positive return on investment, and overall it was a very profitable first four games. If you tailed, you had yourself a very Merry Christmas. I don’t know what the hot toy was this year, but thanks to our Bet Belt picks you could have bought three of them. Santa Alan always delivers.
We proved our system works and we have the hot hand. When that happens, we ride. Tonight is the Boise State Broncos against the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Fiesta Bowl from Glendale, Arizona. Penn State has much to playoff and likely has a semi-chip since everyone is messing their britches over Oregon and Ohio State and somewhat forgetting about Penn State. Penn State looked good in their first round thumping of SMU and Boise State is coming off a bye week.
For this first quarterfinal matchup it’s a conflict of storylines. A blue blood program versus a relatively not one. A stout defense versus a once-in-a-quarter-century kind of running back. Something has to give. Remove weather, remove home field, and lace them up. Boise State comes in as a double digit underdog and most don’t give the Broncos most of a chance to win straight up, but that double digit line is looking nice and juicy. And as we talked about last week, pick your storyline and bet accordingly. I look for it to be an offensive kind of game both ways, and Boise takes the L but keeps it close. In that scenario, you can bet that Jeanty is a factor.
Fiest Bowl Best Bets:
Boise State +11.5
Ashton Jeanty over 119.5 rushing yards
Over 53.5 total points
I’m not wild about a different parlay for this game, so I’ll just be taking a flier on the three above in case all three hit and we laugh all the way to the bank. As always, only bet what you can afford to lose and always be cashing.
