Day two of the first round of the college football playoff and three bangers on tap.
Don’t look now, but someone’s on a heater. Yesterday evening’s playoff game saw our best bets go 3-0 and our Take a Chance parlay ten Riley Leonard rush yards from cashing also. That’s a solid day… profitable and almost perfect. I’ll take a bunch of them to close this season out on a high note.
And what a night last night was. It was no secret that I was openly and actively rooting against Indiana with the weak schedule and polarizing coach, and both came back to bite them. Punting with twelve minutes left down three scores is as soft as the Hoosiers’ schedule. Where was the cockiness, Curt? No swagger to let your offense go out there and win it? Shame. Mark my words, Indiana and Cignetti don’t win more than 8 games again as long as he’s the coach.
But enough about paper tigers that didn’t deserve to be there. Today’s a new day with three games on tap. Basically wall to wall football from noon to midnight to wrap up the first round. Let’s continue the hot streak, shall we?
In some respects, the Penn State Nittany Lions and SMU Mustangs are similar in that both narrowly missed winning their conference championship and the associated first round bye and both are hoping for a bit of a bounceback. As we talked about yesterday, and rode to a 3-0 best bet tally, figure out the likely storyline and build your wagers from there. Happy Valley is going to be cold, and it’s going to impact SMU. When southern teams go north and face cold weather it does change things. We’ll see that again later today when the Vols make a stop in Columbus. But for this winter wonderland in Happy Valley, expect both teams to slow down a bit. Similar to last night in South Bend, I look for Penn State to jump out early and then shift to a more run-first ball control style as the game wears on. It’s also a home game, the first playoff game at Beaver Stadium, and despite the noon kickoff, a crowd and team likely to be hyped. Between the opening attacks and the later game control, expect Penn State superstar Tyler Warren to show up and show up big when the Nittany Lions need him.
Best Bets for SMU/Penn State:
Given our weather driven ball-control narrative sign me up for these plays:
- Penn State -8.5
- Under 53.5
- Tyler Warren over 70 yards receiving
Our Take a Chance Playoff Parlay didn’t hit last night, but I feel good about this Double-Your-Money special:
Penn State moneyline + Nicholas Singleton to score a TD + Drew Allar 175+ passing yards.
As always, don’t bet what you can’t afford to lose, and let’s always be cashing.
