Then final first round game is maybe the most important.
As a general idea, the college football playoffs were great in theory. We had hopes that they’d be nail biting excitement played by the 12 best teams in all of football. Now, there are still games to go and the rounds of 8 and 4 to go, but home field atmosphere aside, these first round games have been anything but a snooze. (Disclaimer: this is being written mid-second quarter for Texas/Clemson, and it appears like this is the next in the line of not-too-close-affairs barring some second half magic from the Tigers.)
That hasn’t prevented us from hitting bet after bet in our College Football Playoffs Best Bets for each game, though. So I guess that’s something. Boring status quo football can also be profitable. I have a feeling the remaining game this weekend may be a bit more unpredictable and frankly hard to call. I wouldn’t be shocked with either the Tennessee Volunteers or Ohio State Buckeyes either one walking out of the horeshoe with a win on Saturday night. I will also own that I am not a tremendously big fan of Ohio State and very much not a fan of Ryan Day. So take that with a grain of salt.
It’s almost not debatable that Ohio State is the better team on paper. I think their roster is probably the most talented top-to-bottom in all of college football and you can’t go wrong betting on the more talented team on the field. So feel free to cut your own path on this one and throw your bankroll on the Buckeyes. It makes sense. For me, I just can’t do it. I think Ohio State is a damaged team right now with all the pressure and no resolve. Tennessee plays in a much harder conference and won’t be intimidated by OSU or the environment. They have a puncher’s chance and I just cannot believe in Ryan Day in big games until I am proven wrong. I think it’s a nip and tuck game, lots of offense, and a great way to close the first round of the College Football Playoff.
Tennessee/Ohio State Best Bets:
- Tennessee +7.5
- Over 44.5
- Jeremiah Smith ATTD
Take a Chance Playoff Parlay:
Jeremiah Smith (OSU) over 60 yards receiving, Dylan Sampson (UT) over 85 yards rushing, Will Howard (OSU) over 200 yards passing.
As we’ve done so far, only bet what you can afford to lose and let’s always be cashing.
