“Tradition is back” is the theme of the Falcons’ new uniform overhaul, with a nod to their 1980s and 1990s designs.
Nothing gets the people going like a uniform reveal.
Bowling Green became the first MAC school to overhaul its primary uniform set for the 2024 season, unveiling a conspicuously different look Tuesday afternoon.
“Tradition is back” is the theme of this Bowling Green uniform reveal, as the new uniforms are a nod to the Falcons’ 1980s and 1990s looks, greatly deviating from the designs worn for much of the 2010s and 2020s.

Bowling Green showcased one orange jersey, one white jersey, and one brown jersey as part of the uniform reveal, although the pants weren’t included in any of the photos.
The new uniforms for the 2024 season feature a basic traditional block number font without an outline, somewhat reminiscent of the number design the Cleveland Browns readopted prior to the 2020 season. Each jersey features a shoulder striping pattern containing brown, orange, and white — as opposed to the two diagonal stripes which were a signature of the jerseys from 2019-23.
While a white helmet was paired with all three jersey combinations, Bowling Green confirmed that the orange helmet will also remain part of the rotation. The helmet design remains largely similar, featuring the interlocking BG falcon logo which has been a staple on the shell since 2011. Based on the angles provided from the uniform reveal, it is undetermined what striping pattern, if any, is utilized on the 2024 helmets. But it’s safe to say no change will be made, as Bowling Green has not worn a helmet without a stripe since 1960, according to The Helmet Project.
Below shows a comparison to Bowling Green’s previous look from 2019-23, which consisted of two main helmets (white and orange), three different jerseys (brown, white, and orange), and three different pants (orange, white, and brown):
Bowling Green will debut its new uniforms at home Thursday, Aug. 29 against Fordham of the FCS. The following week, the new white jersey will likely make its first appearance as the Falcons travel to Happy Valley for a road game at Penn State.
