Noah Kim returns to the state of Michigan as the Eagles’ potential 2025 starter.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles have not been shy about using the transfer portal to find its quarterback talent in the modern era.
Tyler Wiegers, Ben Bryant, Taylor Powell, and 2024 starter Cole Snyder were among the transfer quarterbacks Chris Creighton brought in to immediately start for Eastern Michigan. And after Sunday night, it appears the Eagles will take that approach again in 2025.
Eastern Michigan landed former Michigan State and Coastal Carolina quarterback Noah Kim in the transfer portal, and Kim arrives with notable starting experience.
Kim arrived at Michigan State in 2020 and after sitting the entirety of two seasons, he saw action as a reserve in the 2022 campaign, throwing for 174 yards and three touchdowns on a 14-of-19 showing. Kim then used that momentum to win the starting job at Michigan State in 2023 fall camp. He started each of the first five games for the Spartans before missing the final seven due to injury, finishing the year with 1,090 yards, six touchdowns, and six interceptions.
As Michigan State’s coaching staff transitioned to the Jonathan Smith era, the Spartans saw mass movement both ways in the transfer portal. Kim departed for Coastal Carolina and battled Ethan Vasko for the starting gig in fall camp. Vasko won the starting job and maintained it throughout the year, but Kim still appeared in seven games as a backup. He completed 30-of-56 passes for 333 yards, delivering four touchdowns and one interception — with roughly half of his production occurring in the Oct. 19 game against Louisiana.
The Centreville, VA native returns to the state of Michigan where he spent the first four years of his collegiate career. Kim took redshirts during the COVID-impacted 2020 season and during the 2021 season where he did not see any playing time, so the 2025 campaign will be his final year of eligibility.
He will compete for a starting job on an Eastern Michigan team which loses super senior quarterback Cole Snyder. Snyder started all 12 games for the Eagles in 2024, so Kim will not compete against any incumbent passers with starting experience.
With Kim on the roster, Eastern Michigan takes the field next Aug. 30 at Texas State for the 2025 opener.
