Snoop Dogg takes over as the sponsor as the RedHawks and Rams meet in Tucson.
You’re familiar with the Super Bowl, but how about the Snooper Bowl?
Snoop Dogg is taking over the Arizona Bowl this year, and his game will feature the Miami (OH) RedHawks and the Colorado State Rams. The Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl by Gin & Juice kicks off from Tucson, AZ on Saturday, Dec. 28.
Miami (OH) (8-5, 7-1 MAC) qualifies for the Arizona Bowl after falling short of back-to-back MAC championships. The RedHawks lost the conference title 38-3 to Ohio and now aim to rebound with their first bowl win since 2021. Excluding the pandemic-abbreviated 2020 season, Miami is bowling for the fifth-straight time under head coach Chuck Martin and making its first appearance in the Arizona Bowl.
Colorado State (8-4, 6-1 Mountain West) makes its second Arizona Bowl appearance after participating in the bowl’s inaugural game in 2015. The Rams snapped a long bowl drought this year, qualifying for the postseason for the first time since 2017. Colorado State dropped each of its last four bowls, so the Arizona Bowl presents an opportunity at its first postseason victory since the 2013 New Mexico Bowl.
Miami and Colorado State are meeting for the third time in their histories. Miami won both prior meetings in 2003 and 2010 — the first in Fort Collins, CO and the latter in Oxford, OH. This is the fourth-straight Arizona Bowl matchup pitting the MAC and Mountain West together, and the MAC fared 2-1 in the previous three.
With a win, the RedHawks can claim consecutive 9-win seasons for the first time since 1973-75. Conversely, the Rams can generate their first 9-win season since 2014.
The 2024 Arizona Bowl will be the ninth iteration of the game and the first under the Snoop Dogg sponsorship umbrella. The matchup between Miami and Colorado State kicks off Saturday, Dec. 28 at at 4:30 p.m. ET / 2:30 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on The CW.
