The former MAC Special Teams Player of the Year will get two shots at starting off his pro career.
Alex McNulty-Romaguera, a stalwart specialist for the Buffalo Bulls over the last six seasons, will start his professional journey in unconventional fashion, logging tryouts with the Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills.

McNulty-Romaguera, a dual athlete for the Bulls who also participated in track-and-field, finished his UB football career with program records in points scored, (369), field goals made (60) and extra points (159). His 2022 season was his best, earning first-team all-MAC honors and becoming the first player in program history to win Special Teams Player of the Year in the Mid-American Conference after converting 24-of-28 field goals and 41 extra-point attempts.
His career numbers over six years are a bit more up-and-down, finishing 60-of-88 on field goal attempts (65.8 percent) and 189-of-193 on PATs. McNulty-Romaguera was also valuable on kickoffs, averaging 60.5 yards per kick on 316 attempts for 166 touchbacks and just four kicks out-of-bounds.
McNulty-Romaguera has an impressive leg, especially from range, with most of his kicks coming from over 40 yards and a career-long of 55 yards playing in a famously-hostile locale.
He’ll have an opportunity to show off his leg in front of multiple NFL staffs, and with the proliferation of spring leagues in the football sphere, he could open up other workouts with strong performances. McNulty-Romaguera will certainly have a shot at sticking on a roster with his pro-ready leg so long as he’s able to work on potential accuracy issues at short range.
