Nashville Predators Could Be Moved
Rumour: On the latest edition of Saturday Headlines, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said that Nashville defenceman Dante Fabbro has been available for trade. Fabbro was placed on waivers on Saturday and can be claimed by any team.

Analysis: The former 17th overall pick of the 2016 NHL Draft has yet to get a point in six games this season. Fabbro has been scratched in most of Nashville’s games this season despite signing a $2.5 million deal for this season.
It seems that the Coquitlam, British Columbia native doesn’t have a place in the lineup and may need a change of location. Fabbro has 16 goals and 72 points in 315 career games with the Predators.
Nashville was supposed to be a contending team, but the team has struggled mightily this season. The Predators made a number of big moves in free agency, but those have not gotten the intended results.
What Fabbro Being Put on Waivers Means
Friedman was quick to mention that this move was all the Predators idea. Some thought that Fabbro may have asked to be put on waivers. However, that’s not the case.
If he goes unclaimed, Fabbro would go down to AHL Milwaukee. The veteran defender would likely go right into the first pairing and get plenty of ice time. This move to the AHL would likely give him a chance to showcase his skills to any potential clubs looking to acquire Fabbro.
Friedman also stated that the $2.5 million price tag may scare some teams off for the moment. The insider added that he doesn’t see any team putting in a claim for Fabbro. However, Friedman was quick to add that’s been wrong before.
More Moves to Come
Nashville has struggled this season and some changes may be coming. Predators General Manager Barry Trotz did state the team was trying to be patient. However, there’s a sense of frustration in the room with this group.
Adding players like Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei was supposed to be the Predators among the contenders in the Central Divsion. However, they are falling behind clubs like the Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild. Both of those teams are off to fast starts.
We’ve seen teams turn their season around and get into the Stanley Cup Playoffs after lumbering starts. However, time could be running out on Nashville to turn things around. Moving Fabbro could be the start of a number of changes in the Music City.
