BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Sabres were unable to extend their winning run into a long layoff in the schedule, losing 6-4 in Nashville on Saturday night before getting two weeks off for the NHL 4-Nations Face-Off.
Ending its longest win streak in two seasons at four games, Buffalo rallied back from an early two-goal deficit but never pulled in front.
Going into the break in last-place in the Eastern Conference with a 22-27-5 record, a dozen points out of playoff position, the Sabres’ next game is at home against the New York Rangers on Feb. 22.
Alex Tuch had a goal and assist for his second consecutive three-point game, Rasmus Dahlin and Bowen each tallied a goal and assist, and Dylan Cozens scored on a power play. An offsides challenge took away Zach Benson’s tying goal with seven minutes left in the third period.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, who will play for Finland in the 4-Nations Face-Off along with Sabres defenseman Henri Jokiharju, made 17 saves.
Dahlin, a member of Team Sweden, matched Mike Ramsey for second all-time among Sabres defensemen with his 78th career goal.
The Sabres had a 76-47 advantage in shot attempts and twice as many high-danger scoring chances (14-7), according to NaturalStatTrick.
Former Sabres center Ryan O’Reilly had four assists for the Predators, who got two goals apiece from Brady Skjei and Filip Forsberg, another from Tommy Novak, and an empty-netter from Jonathan Marchessault.
Forsberg and Skjei scored 42 seconds apart to give Nashville a 4-2 lead toward the end of the second period.
